Mesa Ranger District Needs Volunteers

October 10th, 2012

There are wilderness steward openings for volunteers to help in the Four Peaks and Superstition Wilderness areas on the Mesa Ranger District on the Tonto National Forest.

Wilderness Stewards wear Forest Service volunteer uniforms and are the “eyes and ears” of the many trails in the Superstitions Wilderness, especially the very popular First Water & Prelta trails.

If you would like to become a Wilderness Steward, you are encouraged to attend the Volunteer Open House on Oct. 20th, at the Mesa Ranger District’s administrative office from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at 5140 E. Ingram St. in Mesa.

A volunteer application to become a Wilderness Steward must be signed & completed. The application is available at mrdvolunteers.org.

For more information, call Mesa Ranger District at 480-610-3300.
