The Job Fair held July 31 was deemed a great success by both exhibitors and job seekers. More than 350 job seekers attended, visiting with the 30 vendors who had set up at the Freeport Training Center.
An event like this is successful because of the many partners who offer their expertise, resources and talents and the Job Fair is no different. Put on by the Globe-Miami Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Freeport-McMoRan and the Arizona Workforce Connection, the job fair is the second such event offered in the past year. From the first event we went from 20 to 30 exhibitors and saw double the number of job seekers participate.
Special thanks is extended to Freeport-McMoRan for the very generous use of its facility, to the Arizona Workforce Connection and DES programs that helped coordinate the Job Fair, and to the 30 vendors who set up at the Job Fair. Thank you also to the local media sources and businesses that promoted the Job Fair to encourage job seekers to attend, to the Southern Gila County EDC for helping staff to the registration table and to David Franquero, WIA Dislocated Worker Program, for his help in coordinating the event.
It was the aim of all these entities to see a successful Job Fair in terms of matching employers with job seekers. Preliminary feedback shows this goal was indeed achieved.
