Two Phone Scams Reported in Globe

The Globe Police Department is warning residents about scammers calling the area pretending to be from the Internal Revenue Service & Publisher’s Clearing House. The I.R.S. scam involves the recipient getting a call and being told to send money right away to pay back taxes. One person was even sent what appeared to be an official letter after they had been called. That letter was not legit.

The Publisher’s Clearing House scam is when a “company representative” tells the potential victim money must be sent before the prize is awarded.

The Internal Revenue Service & Publisher’s Clearing House don’t operate this way. The Globe Police Department advises you to not send money in either of these cases.
