The fire is eleven miles north of Black Canyon City. Officials report it originated, “on the Joes Hill area east of the Agua Fria canyon in the Agua Fria National Monument.” It is primarily in a remote area and difficult terrain. High winds contributed to the growth of this fire which has grown to over 20,000 acres. The fire grew enough on the east side, it entered the Tonto National Forest. They note, “No structures damaged. No active threats to area communities. Moderate threat to historic administration site.”
