It was a beautiful December day for football in Arizona on Dec. 9th, 2018. The weather was so nice, the roof was open. If you are an Arizona Cardinals fan, the brutal and grueling 17-3 loss to the Detroit Lions wasn’t as nice. Two amazing moments of the day came when Kialani Mills wowed the crowd with her singing of the National Anthem & Larry Fitzgerald’s 1,282nd catch which broke the record for most receptions with a single team. He was tied with Jerry Rice going into the game. Fitzgerald would have 5 catches for the day.
Detroit’s Matt Prater put the first points on the board with a 47-yard field goal. Darius Slay of the Detroit Lions scored the game’s first touchdown when he returned a 67-yard interception for a pick-six. Cardinals Budda Baker came away with the ball he stripped from Detroit’s LeGarrette Blount. Zane Gonzalez kicked a 22-yard field goal to give the Cardinals their only points. Zach Zenner scored the Lions’ only offensive touchdown via a hand-off from Matthew Stafford on the one-yard line. Cardinals rookie QB Josh Rosen had 240 passing yards.
