The Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center held a groundbreaking ceremony on Feb. 5th, to launch their expansion. Layton Construction will be handling the building process.
The project calls for an additional 66,810 square feet that will be home to: a wound center, patient/family centered med/surg, cath lab, pharmacy, family birth center rooms (OB), family lounges, & ICU rooms.
There will also be 11,000 square feet for physician offices, cafe and kitchen, gift shop, open corridors, & 14,160 square feet of remodeled space.
Evelyn Vargas, CVRMC Director of Public Relations, started the special event. A Presentation of Colors was done thanks to the Globe High School JROTC, Veterans of Foreign Wars – Louie E. Higdon Post 1704, American Legion – Henry Berry Post 4, & Veterans of the San Carlos Apache Nation. The Miami High School Marching Band did a wonderful job performing the National Anthem. Bishop Robert Mawson gave the invocation. CVRMC Chief Executive Officer Neal Jenson gave a presentaion before the shovels were distibuted to various representatives from: CVRMC, its volunteers, construction partners, the cties and towns in the region the hospital serves from Mayors to emergency personnel, the regional school districts, & various regional industries.
