A project to improve the Russell Gulch Channel and box culvert you encounter as you turn onto Hospital Dr. is underway. The work entails: “demolition and reconstruction of the box culvert on Hospital Drive; clean out and removing sediment that reduced the area for water capacity, as well as the realignment of Russell Gulch with a matting system that will help keep the embankment from eroding away.” The speed limit has been reduced to 15 mph, and they ask that you be extra cautious while driving through the area and construction zone. The project is scheduled to run until June 2nd. A detour is in place. Once completed, “The Russell Gulch Channel Improvement Project will allow this drainage area to handle more than three times the hydrologic capacity than it could before.”
