Bryce Fire

UPDATE, 5-15-25: The fire is 78% contained. It’s at approx. 3,294 acres. There are no Set status orders in effect.

UPDATE, 5-12-25: Over 270 personnel are assigned to the fire. They have made significant progress on the containment line while having to contend with high winds and low humidity. Graham County Office of Emergency Management has placed areas under “SET for homes between Eden Road and Fort Thomas on the north side of US 70. SET for all homes located in the river corridor in the Fort Thomas-area.” A temporary flight restriction is in place which means unauthorized aircraft in the fire zone are prohibited, including drones. Stage 2 fire restrictions for much of Southeastern Arizona are in effect.

UPDATE 2, 5-11-25: US 70 is still open. Crews are working on the containment line and keeping the fire from Fort Thomas. They are also trying to protect as many of the infrastructures within and near the fire as possible. The high winds caused much of the northern portion of the fire to require the most attention earlier today. The approx. acreage increased to 2,896.

UPDATE, 5-11-25: Firing operations were conducted to get a ahead of the fire and strengthen the containment line. These backburns, and better mapping, did show an increase in the fire’s size to approx. 2,290 acres. This human-caused fire is 25% contained.

The Bryce Fire began May 7th, about 1.5 miles southeast of Eden & 7 miles northwest of Pima. It has grown to approx. 887 acres with 25% containment. An evacuation warning has been issued for “All homes between Eden Road and Ft Thomas on the North Side of Highway 70” & “The River corridor in the Fort Thomas area.” The high winds have affected the arial attack. The winds have also caused the smoke to be seen and smelt as far as Globe.
